Forester - Timberland Management (Forester)

Position Description: Larson & McGowin, LLC (L&M) is seeking a forester to assist with the management of client properties located in south Arkansas. Responsibilities include timber sale preparation and administration, timber inventory, the development of stand-level silvicultural prescriptions, management of spatial data related to land management, timber marking, contracting of forestry-related services, and other forest management activities. 
    
   Candidate will occasionally participate in large-scale inventory projects across the U. S. Southeast. Travel outside of the local area will be required approximately 20% of the time. All necessary travel costs will be reimbursed. 

Qualifications:

  Required 
   o Applicant should have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry 
   o Must be a Registered Forester in Arkansas or meet the necessary 
    requirements to obtain this designation within 2 years from date of hire 
   o Knowledge and proficient with GIS software (i.e. ESRI software applications ) 
   o Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office suite 
   o Strong written and verbal communication skills 
   o Time management skills 
   o Must be capable of working in remote outdoor locations in various weather 
    and forest conditions 

   Preferred 
   o 2+ years’ experience related to forestry field work 
   o Experience in intensive pine and bottomland hardwood silviculture 
   o Field proficiency with various forest inventory/mensuration techniques and 
    methodologies
