Are you interested in specializing in urban forestry and horticulture work?

The Arborist 1 is responsible for skilled arboriculture work involving the identification of trees and tree pests as well as the inspection, care and maintenance of trees in municipal parks, greenbelts, streets and other municipal properties.   Planting, cultivating, pruning, and removing hazardous trees are also important responsibilities of this challenging position.

As the successful candidate your qualifications include Grade 12 along with a Certified Arborist Technician designation and an ISA (International Society of Arboriculture) Certification. One year of directly related work experience in the arboriculture field and a commitment to safety and customer service excellence are also requirements for the position.  A WUAA/HEBC Falling & Bucking Endorsement, a Pesticide Applicator's license, and a Chainsaw safety and fall protection certification must be completed within six months of hire.  A Tree Risk Assessor qualification would be considered an asset. 

A full privilege valid Class 5 driver's license is also required along with a clear Police Information Check for offences related to the position.

If there are no fully qualified applicants, we may consider applicants that meet the one year of experience requirement and have completed coursework in arboriculture, horticulture or a related discipline.


This  regular full-time  position offers a wage of  $32.10  per hour plus excellent pension and benefits.
