Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for becoming an integral and productive member of the Louisiana Region log procurement team, which is responsible for the procurement of approximately 250MMBF of high quality, low cost logs to the mills within the Region. The position reports to the Region Procurement Operations Manager and the reporting office will be one of the region's mill locations at Florien or Oakdale, Louisiana. Specific responsibilities may include but not be limited to the following: Procure standing inventory through the purchase of per unit and/or lump sum timber deeds. Procure delivered log volume from area wood dealers and other suppliers. Administer timber sale contracts and supplier contracts. Manage and coordinate logging production. Maintain SFI compliance in every pertinent area of operations. Maintain log quality standards for contracts under your supervision. Stay abreast of key factors affecting log cost and supply chain dynamics. Represent the company in a professional manner with landowners, suppliers and trade organizations. Special projects as needed or assigned.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in forest management or related field preferred. Minimum five years experience in forestry related activities such as timber procurement or logging production coordination.

 

Preferred Qualifications: Thorough understanding of regulatory and SFI compliance standards for the operating area. Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills required. Highly motivated, self-directed and team oriented. Effective negotiating skills.
