Description:

Shultz Forest Management and Consulting LLC is seeking applicants to fill a full time (40+hrs/week), temporary Tree Planter position. The primary focus of this position is to aid in the planting of thousands of seedlings at restoration sites in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Typical duties include identifying native nursery seedlings, deciding the planting location based on the individual specie’s ecology, and planting the trees based on contract specifications. The position may include some overnight travel for which employee will be compensated.

Job Requirements:

This is an extremely labor-intensive field position, and the successful applicant should expect to spend 100% of their time working outdoors, must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds over various terrain, and work in all weather conditions. Encounters with poison ivy, stinging and biting insects, ticks, venomous snakes, and other hazardous conditions common to the forests of the area occur regularly.  Applicant should be able to identify eastern U.S. tree species common to the area.  Previous work experience in the forestry profession is preferred but not required depending on related work experience and/or education.  The successful applicant must demonstrate an ability to work independently and in a team environment.  Applicant must present themselves in a professional business-like manner when interacting with contractors, clients, and the public.  Applicant must be a legal U.S. resident.  The successful applicant must have a valid driver’s license, and be able to provide their own transportation to work sites.
