This position is located in Victoria; however, consideration may be made for other locations pending office availability and operational requirements.

Silviculture Reporting and Strategic Planning Officer
$67,495.11 - $84,301.57 annually

In this position you will coordinate and lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of strategic silviculture (operating) plans and associated forest management practices and strategies promoting timber supply mitigation and reforestation to maximize the productivity and sustainability of future provincial forest resources.  This position ensures the integrity of silviculture mapping, monitoring and reporting protocols, training and analysis methods required to develop spatially explicit silviculture plans informing timber objectives at the management unit level and inform land based investments. The position promotes multi-disciplinary, inter-agency collaboration to identify forest management issues and recommends silviculture strategies and practices.

Qualifications for this role include:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry or Natural Resource Management and 7 years of progressive and directly related forestry experience; or a Master’s Degree in Forestry or Natural Resource Management and 5 years of progressive and directly related forestry experience

· Applicants must be registered, or *immediately eligible for registration, with the Association of British Columbia Forest Professionals (ABCFP) as a Registered Professional Forester.  * Note:  immediately eligible for registration is defined as being able to transfer your current membership from another Canadian jurisdiction to the ABCFP.  If required, ensuring eligibility is the responsibility of the applicant and must be confirmed before an offer of employment can be made.


Related experience must include the following:


· Experience developing and implementing forest level strategic plans
· Experience managing contracts
· Experience ensuring the integrity of, and developing silviculture information systems
· Experience supervising forest professionals
