Senior Corporate Accountant

This role is a full-time permanent position for a Senior Corporate Accountant in the Finance Department and reports to our Financial Controller. We are a multinational company with operations in Canada and the United States. We are looking for a self-starter, creative problem solver and strong communicator who thrives on new challenges and has a can-do attitude. As a key member of the financial team, you will liaise with internal and external parties. You will have a keen interest in bringing innovation to the financial process and providing mentorship to our junior accounting team members.

Key Duties:

  • Preparation and processing of various month end tasks including journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, consolidation accounting, and consolidated financial statements.
  • Processing of pension transactional data and pension accounting entries.      
  • Assisting with quarter-end and year-end reporting which includes internal and external consolidated and legal entity financial statements and their related notes, and other regulatory reporting.
  • Providing support to the Manager of Financial Reporting to monitor corporate transactions and monthly financial results. This includes monthly account analyses with the objective of improving the accuracy and efficiency of monthly accounting.
  • Assisting in department cost control, cost/benefit analysis and providing financial information and recommendations.
  • Assisting our internal audit department which will include travel to locations outside Vancouver.
  • Prepare tax working papers, budgets, and other analytical reports.

Experience and Education:

  • A minimum of 3 years of related work
  • CPA professional designation is required
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
  • A detailed and proactive approach to work
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, in particular Excel
  • Experience with Oracle accounting software, considered a strong asset
  • Experience in the Wood Products Industry, preferred
