Job Summary 
You are an experienced Sawmill Maintenance Manager with a background in overseeing all aspects of site maintenance. Your background in employee management, combined with inventory and budgetary knowledge will see you excel in this role. 

Based at Ledcor's sawmill and canting facility in Chilliwack, BC, this role is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned maintenance professional. We welcome applicants from mills across BC. 

Responsibilities 
  • Manages maintenance staff and contractors to ensure equipment is maintained to a safe and productive level to maximize uptime and limit repair and maintenance costs
  • Oversees the training of all maintenance staff and hourly personnel, including independent contractors
  • Conducts hands-on repairs and troubleshooting in order to minimize equipment down time
  • Participates in auctions to obtain necessary mechanical parts; supervises purchasing and parts inventories, including related budgets
  • Promotes and focuses on a safe working environment, while ensuring all on-site safety requirements are met
  • Leads the budgeting, forecasting and expenditures relating to the maintenance of the sawmill
  • May perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements 
  • 8 to 10 years' experience in sawmill maintenance preferred
  • 5 years' supervisory experience in a sawmill maintenance capacity or other forestry industry environment
  • Certified/Red Seal Millwright, Electrician or Heavy Duty Mechanic
  • Strong proven mechanical troubleshooting skills, particularly in working with older equipment
  • Familiarity with PLC Control Systems would be an asset
  • General knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems required; electrician training would be an asset
  • Familiarity with budgeting and cost controls
  • Basic computer skills, including experience with Excel and spreadsheets
  • Hard-working and self-motivated team player, who works effectively without close supervision
  • Must be well-organized, with strong time and people management skills
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug & alcohol requirements
