ROY NORTHERN LAND AND ENVIRONMENTAL is an expanding progressive surface land and environmental consulting firm with a special interest in oil and gas, forestry, mining, energy, and agricultural industries, as well as municipal authorities throughout Alberta, British Columbia and Canada’s north. We employ a team of over 65 staff members located in our Fairview, Calgary, Fort St. John, Prince George, and Terrace offices, and we offer interdisciplinary expertise to develop environmental solutions for our clients throughout western Canada.  For over 30 years, we have directly assisted clients in regulatory application, and have provided consulting expertise on environmental legislation, regulations and guideline compliance related to project planning, development and reclamation.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Registered, eligible or a desire to register with the Association of BC Forest Professionals as RPF, RFT, FIT, TFT, ATC or SAS

  • 2+ years of relevant forestry experience (additional environmental consulting experience a plus)

  • Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office

  • Current Safety Tickets (a plus); Valid Class 5 Driver’s License; Canadian Citizen or Permanent Residency

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

  • Experience with timber cruising

  • Experience with timber reconnaissance work

  • Experience in cutting permit and appraisal submissions

  • Familiar with BC Forestry Legislation, Regulations and Policy & Practices

  • Well versed in applicable environmental regulations, guidelines and associated industry practices within BC

  • Strong commitment to client satisfaction and a working knowledge of the oil and gas and forestry industry

  • Ability to manage time and priorities effectively and ability to produce professional deliverables on time

  • Strong commitment to health and safety

  • Superior attention to detail, well organized, and ability to maintain accurate and up to date field information

  • Strong communication and technical report writing skills

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participation in a team environment, working closely with Project Managers and co-workers to complete work programs

  • Preparing and coordinating project documentation, subcontractors and equipment for field programs

  • Participation in field data collection programs (i.e., watercourse, wetland, vegetation, soil, timber, and wildlife assessments)

  • Timber cruising/valuation and waste surveying

  • Experinence3 with Timber reconnaissance survey

  • Reviewing, understanding and implementing plans consistent with BC Forestry Legislation, Regulations and Policy & Practices, guidelines, best management practices, higher level plans, etc.
