Reporting to the Operations Superintendent, the Planning and Silviculture Forester is a leading member of the team responsible for timber development and silviculture management under Norbord’s SFI-certified British Columbia forest tenures.
Working closely with the Planning Supervisor, key roles of this position include but are not limited to:
- Managing Norbord’s timber development program, including contract establishment and supervision of forest consultants in the delivery of approved Cutting Permits, Road Permits and Forest Stewardship Plans
- Managing and supervising Norbord’s silviculture program
- Liaising with government agencies, First Nations, members of the public, other licensees and stakeholders
- Preparing timber development and silviculture budgets, forecasts, assessments and reports
This position requires a high energy and commitment level, and a positive outlook. Excellent interpersonal, analytical and organizational skills are essential, as is the ability to work collegially with people of different backgrounds and perspectives.
The ideal candidate has a post secondary degree in Forestry, is currently registered as a Professional Forester with the ABCFP and has at least 3-5 years of experience in a related role. Candidates with less experience may be considered for alternate positions.
