Years Experience Required:  5 years lumber planner experience. Prefer 3 years planer supervision experience.

Job Description: 

The Planer Supervisor in Oregon will be responsible to supervise the operation and maintain the sawmill planer. 

Position Responsibilities 

  • The planer supervisor will be responsible to oversee the planer operation and make sure the proper preventative maintenance, repair, installation, and modification of planer equipment is provided.
  • Safely and efficiently make sure the planer is properly set up, lubricated, and cleaned.
  • Confirm proper cleaning and sharpening of knives.
  • Maintain a high standard to produce highest quality possible ant the maximum production rate safely.
  • Ensure proper planer cuts to minimize skip dressing and address all wavy dressing immediately
  • Supervise the daily planer PM checklist
  • Provide management feedback about machine issues. 

Position Requirements:

  • Proven success at prior sawmill planer operations
  • 5 years pine sawmill planer experience. Prefer 3 years planer supervision experience.
  • Experience with highly automated pine sawmill
  • Diverse background in the sawmill industry.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Team oriented leader, engage others in decision making process.
  • Strong technical knowledge of sawmill technology, equipment and machinery.
  • Strong grading knowledge of both dimension, boards and industrial lumber products.
  • Demonstrated ability to innovate and encourage advancement in sound business decisions and in risk taking.
  • Ability to self-direct and prioritize workflow.
  • Ability to manage several assignments simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • High achiever who demands quality work, is efficient and constantly striving to improve performance.
  • High analytical ability
  • MS Office computer skills 
  • Their normal schedule is Monday - Friday and the operations are 6:00am - 4:30pm.  Schedule is always subject to change.  There are times when they do maintenance on Saturdays.
