  Dry Mill Manager - Hardwood Sawmill

Parkside is a family owned; Queensland based Hardwood Sawmilling Company which prides themselves in state of the art production of decorative, structural and joinery hardwood products. Currently we are seeking applications for an experienced Dry Mill Manager to manage our hardwood sawmill operations in Wondai, Queensland. 

About the role:

This is a full time role and will be based at the Wondai Dry Mill.   The purpose of this position is to provide leadership  and manage the  site team and develop the teams culture to deliver maximum returns against the sites capabilities,  as well as assist in the overall Strategic Planning and Management as part of the Senior Management Team.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring production goals are consistently met
  • Plan the mill production with the company’s Sales Team.
  • Actively monitor all work centres to ensure they are meeting or exceeding the budgeted figures.
  • Provide strong leadership to the Sawmill Team and foster a service ethic
  • Provide leadership in developing and executing internal training plans and programs for mill staff
  • Co-ordinate and implement a site preventative maintenance program for the mill
  • Develop and control systems to ensure mill inventory balances and you are controlling your stocks
  • Implement and manage a quality system that meets or exceeds our customers expectation
  • Actively participate in and promote company and site safety/Environment programs, including proactively reducing unsafe practices and cultures.
  • Liaise with local community and local government to ensure the sawmill is, and continues to be, a preferred employment path for both local residents and those who move to Wondai as part of lifestyle choices.

Criteria:

  • 5 years’ experience in a similar role preferred
  • Previous eperience in hardwood sawmilling operations
  • Previous experience in Glulam plant operations
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills
  • Highly developed leadership skills
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
