This Supervisor oversees the Sawmill/Rough Yard.

This position supports the swing shift team (Monday and Tuesday) as well as the day shift team (Thursday and Friday) 

Your accountabilities:

  • Drive proactive safety behavior through leading by example and holding employees accountable for unsafe practices.
  • Serve as a catalyst of continuous improvement by challenging quality, safety and production through project justification, goal setting and cause and effect-relationships.
  • Actively lead crew meetings to improve teamwork and group alignment. Effectively and efficiently manage teams through overtime and shift scheduling.
  • Innovatively approaching problems through team collaboration to determine effective solutions. 
  • Demonstrate strong communication and alignment of mill operations both vertically and horizontally to set job, safety, and quality expectations.
  • Effectively manage employee and team performance to create an environment in which employees are valued.
  • Develop effective and positive working relationships within the plant, Manufacturing colleagues, as well as business partners in other areas of the company (Finance, HR, Sales and Marketing, and Resources).
  • Communicate consistently and effectively to ensure continuity of production goals and execution between departments and shifts.    

Your qualifications:

  • Minimum of five years in a supervisory or leadership role with strong safety and CI experience.
  • Able to work nights and weekends, flexible to a changing schedule to support business needs.
  • Quick thinker with the ability to adapt to new situations and proficient at absorbing and comprehending new information.
  • Demonstrated record of successful safety performance.
  • Possess strong leadership skills, including contributing to and enhancing teams.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be able to read, write and understand direction in English.
