Heavy Duty Mechanic (Maintenance & Trades)

We are recruiting for a full time Heavy-Duty Mechanic to join our team. You will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and completing maintenance on our side winder boats and industrial forklifts.

The Ideal Candidate 

You have previously worked in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment for a minimum of 5 years where you have earned a reputation for your strong work ethic and commitment to excellence. You have a Mechanics Journeyman's Certification or Red Seal and Technical Qualification with Inter Provincial certification and a strong understanding of electrical, hydraulic and HVAC systems. You utilize the resources that are made available to you. Foremost, you recognize the importance of completing work in a safe manner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Includes the following, as well as other duties that may be assigned: 

• On a daily basis, works on assigned duties as per work instructions and maintenance schedule/repair procedure requirements from Maintenance Manager.

• Review daily pre-trip inspection reports, completion of repairs and sign off on safety records as required

• Troubleshoot and repair electrical, wiring, hydraulic systems and components, and engine computer diagnostics

• Be computer proficient in industrial software diagnostics

• If any problems are faced during the performance of the assigned tasks, they are reported to the Maintenance Manager in an expedited manner.

• Maintenance/repairs are carried out in the most cost effective manner such that parts replacement is done only when necessary.

• Promotes good housekeeping to ensure a safe and clean work environment.

• After hours availability necessary for emergency repairs.

Skills & Abilities: 

• Ability to read electrical and hydraulic schematics, troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and electrical problems

• Possess both diesel and gas engine diagnostic techniques

• Familiar with parts and service manuals

• Ability to work unsupervised

• Willingness to upgrade skills

• Work in a team environment and communicate well with others

• Strong attention to detail and able to work under pressure

• Good interpersonal skills

• Follows all Safety requirements when performing technical duties assigned, including adhering to necessary Safety gear.

We offer excellent wages, a comprehensive pension, benefit package and day shift, Tuesday to Saturday, from 6:30am to 2:30pm.
