Carrier Lumber Ltd. has an immediate opening for one (1) Health, Safety and Environment Supervisor. Working jointly at our Tabor Mill and Fabrication Shop, the position will directly report to the Health, Safety and Environment Manager.

THE QUALIFICATIONS:

The following qualifications are preferred:

  • Occupational Health and Safety Certificate or Diploma
  • A minimum of five years’ of related experience in Occupational Health & Safety at an operational level
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Thorough understanding of legislative compliance to Occupational Health & Safety principles
  • Capacity to assess work conditions to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions
  • Knowledgeable in incident investigation theories and root causation
  • Exceptional organization and record keeping abilities

The following in-house instructor training credentials are an asset:

Telehandler, Forklift, Elevated Work Platforms and overhead Crane

THE DUTIES:

  • Assist in the development, maintenance and implementation of HSE initiatives and programs consistent with Carrier Lumber’s Health & Safety policy and legislative requirements
  • Perform and contribute to the workplace training plans by conducting employee orientations, providing emergency response training, and circulating health and safety awareness materials
  • Develop and distribute Health & Safety reports that provide management with workplace injury statistics, new initiatives and system changes
  • Coordinate inspections with regulatory agencies and the Health, Safety and Environment Manager and ensure that any identified deficiencies are minimized and corrected
  • Maintain all logs and documentation associated with permits and regulatory requirements
  • Establish and maintain harmonious relationships with other employees, management, outside organizations, and representatives of local, provincial and federal agencies
  • Coordinate training in close coordination with Human Resources on various health and safety issues such as WHMIS 2015, emergency response, fire safety/drills, CPR, first aid, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned

Compensation

Salary is commensurate with experience.
