Wage: $80k-$100k+/year depending on experience
Education Required: BS Degree in Business preferred
Years Experience Required: Experience with procuring and exporting US hardwood timber and lumber required. Exporting to China preferred.
Description:
The Lumber Trader will provide US hardwood lumber and timber procurement and export to China.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for procurement of hardwood timber and lumber for China.
- Build market position in the hardwood timber and lumber industry by locating and closing new accounts.
- Create and build long-lasting relationships on multiple levels with various customers—from Foresters, Production and Shipping/Receiving to C Level personnel
- Develop and negotiate customized pricing contracts while understanding risk/reward
- Communicate internally with Company Purchasing, Production, Transportation and Accounting
- Close business by telephone and by face to face, traveling as needed.
- Understand and effectively present Company’s capabilities, products, and services as well as visit with customers to present our industry-leading service elements
- Responsible for coordination with shippers and ports to get hardwood timber and lumber products shipped (supported by company)
Requirements:
- Speak and write fluently in English; bi-lingual in Chinese languages/dialects preferred
- Experience with buying both US hardwood timber and lumber for exporting to other countries. Exporting to China or Asia preferred.
- Ability to follow rapidly changing markets and adjust procurement appropriately
- Develop positive working relationships with all team members
- Display initiative with a "self-starter" attitude
- Demonstrate excellence by the ability to prioritize and multi task with a strong attention to detail
- Represent company initiatives via oral presentations to both small and large groups
- Exhibit professionalism by proficient use of computer software programs (including Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Strive for success by a willingness to travel in support of the business needs
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Must have established relationships with regional hardwood foresters, loggers, landowners, sawmills and other forest industry participants.
