You’ll be asked to own all wood procurement activities to ensure long term supply to our manufacturing facility which meet company objectives for profitability. Also, be ready to provide advice and training to less experienced forestry resource personnel.

Blueprint for Success – In this role you’ll need to…

  • Budget and forecast costs and volumes of raw materials
  • Hire, train, and manage performance of staff
  • Negotiate and supervise various contracts including logging, road construction, and transportation
  • Appraise and negotiate or bid private and government timber sale purchases
  • Monitor and report accomplishments and compare to budgets/goals
  • Ensure delivery of raw materials to mills meeting quality, quantity, and cost objectives
  • Provide timely information and participation in Mill Business Team decisions
  • Provide leadership to less experienced Resource Managers
  • Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and regulations

 Tools Needed for Performance

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Thorough knowledge of company products
  • Ability to work in team environment
  • In-depth knowledge of general forestry principles and skills
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills
  • Good organization skills
  • Knowledge of contracts and environmental regulations
  • Basic computer skills
  • Driver’s license required

 Education, Experience & Environment

  • Bachelor’s degree in Forestry or equivalent experience  
  • 3 years supervisory experience
  • 7 years forestry experience
  • Or any combination of experience and training that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position.
  • Outdoor environment subject to elements of nature
  • Frequent travel required
