Optimum Resource Management Ltd. (Optimum) is company based out of McBride, British Columbia, providing forestry services to industry, private land holders and government. Optimum is responsible for developing timber volumes for multiple clients as well as our sister company, Skyline Resources Ltd. (Skyline). Skyline provides grapple yarding, steep slope ground based skidding and, road construction services in the Prince George TSA. The close working relationship with Skyline enables Optimum’s employees to gain valuable knowledge and experience through direct feedback of harvesting, hauling and construction. Optimum strengths include a strong background in forest engineering, management of harvesting and construction on steep slope terrain, as well as unstable terrain.

Optimum Resource Management Ltd. is currently recruiting people to fill up to 6 field positions for multiphase timber development, timber reconnaissance and evaluation, riparian assessments, surveying, ecological assessments, bridge inspection and as-built drawings. These positions include full time and temporary opportunities and are open to both senior and junior experience levels with a preference to those that have a degree or diploma in Forestry Sciences or Natural Resource Management or have a background in forest operations and timber cruising. People with an interest in forestry and have a
degree or diploma in other disciplines are welcome to apply.

Our operations extend along the Rocky Mountains of BC from Kinbasket Lake near Valemount, to MacKenzie. The positions include an industry competitive remuneration package, and an excellent career growth opportunity. Majority of the work will be based out of the communities of McBride and Prince George however, travel and work out of other communities should be expected.

Preferred qualifications:

• Registered professional foresters, registered professional technologists, special permit holders.

• Registration or ability to register with the ABCFP. Those individuals working towards or have a degree or diploma in natural resources are preferred candidates.

• Forest engineering, timber cruising experience.

• Harvesting/construction operations.

• Working knowledge of MS office.

• 3+ years work experience

• Valid Drivers license with a clean abstract.

• Passion for forestry, working outdoors and hiking in steep mountainous terrain.

• Initiative and perseverance.

• Ability to work independently under limited direct supervision from time to time.

• Good quality work and thoroughness.

• Safety conscious - understands and familiar with WCB regulations and ForestSafe.

• Good problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing conditions and schedules.

• Good verbal and written communication skills.

• Good physical and mental stamina for working in the field and in the steep mountainous terrain.

• Willingness to work in all types of weather conditions and hike through dense natural forests.
