LSFES is a non-profit registered charity that is committed to forest education and increased public awareness of forestry in the Lesser Slave Lake region.

The Executive Director will report to the Board of Directors of LSFES.  The Executive Director is responsible for the coordination and delivery of the forest education programming in and around the Slave Lake area.

The job description is:

  • Coordinates  and manages operational and program plans for the Society
  • Oversees the financial accounts, budgeting and funding opportunities
  • Delivery of forest education programs to students and teachers
  • Delivery of forest education community engagement programs
  • Collaborate with Lesser Slave Lake Bird Observatory Society, Firesmart Canada, and other fire service organizations

Knowledge and skills required:

  • Independent work who can also work in a team environment
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong communication skills and excellent public speaking skills
  • Previous experience in applying for and receiving grants with funding organizations
  • Bachelor of Science or Diploma in Forestry, Environmental Science, Natural Resources or related field is desirable

Salaried one year contract with possibility of a multi-year extension  Wages negotiated based on experience.
