Mendocino Forest Products  (MFP) is looking for an experienced Electrician to join our Maintenance Team in Ukiah, CA!  Relocation help is available!

The key areas of focus for this position are as follows;

Plan layout, install, and repair; wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment in a safe and productive manner. 

Responsibilities

  • Repair faulty equipment or systems
  • Implement electrical safety standards as required by NFPA 70. (National Fire Protection association- National electric code)
  • Plan new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes
  • Prepare sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, or follow diagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring
  • Measure, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit
  • Pull wiring through conduit
  • Splice wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads, twisting or soldering wires together, and applying tape or terminal caps
  • Connect wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment
  • Install control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels
  • Connect power cables to equipment, such as electric range or motor, and installs grounding leads
  • Test continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components with testing instruments such as ohmmeter, battery and buzzer, and oscilloscope
  • Observe functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement

Qualifications

  • One-year certificate from college or technical school; or four years related experience and/or two years technical craft training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must maintain and carry a valid driver license and remain eligible and capable of operating company vehicles in accordance with company policy guidelines
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of Allen Bradley Programmable Logic Controller and Software; Word, Excel, and Access software
  • The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; and use hands to finger, handle, or feel and frequently is required to sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and communicate.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • The employee is frequently required to walk, sit, stand, and communicate.

  • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • The employee is occasionally required to smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • The employee will split his/her time between a typical manufacturing office environment and the manufacturing floor. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate while the noise level in the sawmill dictates the necessity for hearing protection when working on the manufacturing floor.
  • Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration and occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; extreme cold; extreme heat; explosives; and risk of radiation.
  • This position may require the following equipment when in the plant: eye protection, hearing protection, leather/rubber gloves, safety shoes, hard hat and fall protection as required
