Accountabilities:

As a member of the Forestry team, you will support the development and execution of the Transmission Vegetation Management- Right-of-Way Widening Program throughout Nova Scotia. You will interface with technical staff, Service Providers and Regulatory Agencies to ensure the program is effectively implemented and you will ensure compliance of the program at the Federal, Provincial and Municipal government level.

You will be responsible for reporting of the widening program at a provincial level and you will have management oversight of environmental concerns and customer/ landowner interactions.

Travel throughout Nova Scotia will be required.

You will be responsible for your personal safety and that of your co-workers, by observing and ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations. You will be accountable for environmental performance as it relates to the Environmental Management System processes and initiatives.

Skills, Capabilities and Experience:

As the successful candidate you must hold a degree in forestry from a recognized university or hold a diploma in forest technology from a recognized school with the potential to become a registered forest professional.

You must hold a valid Nova Scotia Driver’s License with a minimum of 2 years driving experience and provide a driver’s abstract satisfactory to NSPI. You will have excellent interpersonal and listening skills and the ability to express yourself clearly and confidently. You must be able to work with customers in difficult situations and work under pressure while still maintaining a high standard of customer service.

You will be able to work with minimum supervision, display excellent knowledge of company rules and regulations, demonstrate excellent customer service skills, and work in a safe and efficient manner. You are required to be proficient in the use of computers and ESRI software. You must present yourself in a professional manner with appropriate attire and be able to meet the physical challenges of the position.

This is a field and office position requiring a flexible work schedule and weekend work. The following skills/ qualifications would be considered an asset: NS Herbicide Applicator Licence, experience using ArcMap 10.6 and safety minded.

Salary:  Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
