The City of Kelowna cares for over 200 mountains, beaches and city parks.  Our Urban Forestry team maintains over 25,000 street and park trees and approximately 1000 hectares of natural forested areas. 

Help enhance Kelowna’s beautiful urban forest using your arboriculture related experience including field experience with aerial buckets and climbing. An Arborist performs specialized arboricultural work in the planting, removal and maintenance of urban trees. An Arborist functions as a crew-leader to provide direction to helpers on a project basis.

Qualifications:
  • I.S.A. (International Society of Arboriculture) Arborist Certification;
  • Courses in Arboricultural; however, a related Diploma is preferred;
  • Experience as an Arborist;
  • BC Drivers License - Class 3 with Air Ticket; and
  • Experience on an Aerial Lift and Chipper with the ability to obtain City of Kelowna Certification.

This is a CUPE bargaining unit position and offers an hourly rate of $31.62 per hour (based on a 40-hour workweek), along with a competitive benefits package.

*Please note that the City of Kelowna is also considering applicants that are not fully qualified as an Arborist but are interested in completing a training opportunity, which has a pay step progression from $27.91 to $31.62 per hour depending on the length of training plan.  Please note, the minimum qualification for consideration of the training plan is related experience and an ISA Arborist Certification.
