ROY NORTHERN LAND AND ENVIRONMENTAL is an expanding progressive surface land and environmental consulting firm with a special interest in oil and gas, forestry, mining, energy, and agricultural industries, as well as municipal authorities throughout Alberta, British Columbia and Canada’s north. We employ a team of over 80 staff members located in our Fairview, Calgary, Fort St. John, Prince George, and Terrace offices, and we offer interdisciplinary expertise to develop environmental solutions for our clients throughout western Canada. For over 30 years, we have directly assisted clients in regulatory application, and have provided consulting expertise on environmental legislation, regulations and guideline compliance related to project planning, development and reclamation.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma required, or bachelor’s degree or completion of post-secondary diploma preferred

• Minimum of two years administrative support experience

• Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge and abilities would qualify

• Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel and other MS Office programs

• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License

• Canadian Citizen or Permanent Residency

• Strong work ethic and the ability to multi-task and prioritize workloads (ability to manage time and priorities effectively)

• Detail oriented and well organized

• Excellent computer skills and ability to maintain accurate and up to date information

• Strong professional interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills

• The ability to work under pressure and changing requirements

• Excellent proofreading ability; technical report writing skills a plus

• Willingness to learn and desire to work both in a team setting and independently

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work under moderate supervision with latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement

• Operate modern office equipment and computers with word processing software to produce and edit routine letters, documents, or other materials

• Upload documentation from a variety of source documents

• Perform advanced data entry work

• Generate lists or other information from data previously entered in a computer system

• Proof and review documents for data entry and grammar errors

• Establish and maintain files

• Produce written documents using proper punctuation, grammar and spelling

• Answer phones and relay messages to senior staff

• Purchase and proper accounting to obtain and maintain office supplies
