Yoder Operator (Forestry, Logging & Mill Operations)

POSITION PURPOSE

Operate a Yarding Machine safely and efficiently.  Yard logs from setting to landing safely and efficiently.  Must be willing to assist in wire rope splicing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (other duties may be assigned)

The following is a list of general job responsibilities for the Yoder Operator position.  This list is not all-inclusive and may be broadened or changed to meet changing business needs. 

  • Yard logs to landing
  • Splice and string lines on the yarder
  • Complete understanding of “whistle” sequences for extracting logs
  • Drive the crew bus. Must work well with others
  • Operate Yarding Machine that is equipped with Acme motorized carriage and electronic chocker’s
  • Operate Yarding Machine in travel and rig-up operations
  • Know and understand whistle signals
  • Perform normal greasing and minor repairs and maintenance
  • Maintain a regular attendance as required
  • Comply with established and updated safety procedures and requirements
  • Able to splice wire rope

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Minimum of 1 year “hands on” experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This position is located in Klamath Falls, Oregon.
  • Ability to climb ladders, stairs and work in tight spaced and around moving equipment, work in dark, dusty, and or high, windy environments.
  • Must maintain punctual and regular attendance and present appropriate professional appearance at all times.
  • Requires the use of standard safety equipment in regulation with Oregon Operations.
  • This position is a Physical and Mental Requirement Classification 7.
