The FMG Woodlands Accountant’s major focus is providing the Woodlands team with relevant financial / statistical analysis and information to assist in the development of strategies for continuous improvement, and participating in decisions that enhance the operation’s and Canfor’s bottom line. The Woodlands Accountant is a member of the Forest Management Group. As a management representative of Canfor, the Woodlands Accountant is expected to exhibit a level of professionalism that positively represents the corporation at all times.
The Woodlands Accountant is responsible for providing accurate “decision-making” information that will support the Houston Woodlands to meet the key performance indicators (KPI’s) as determined by the Operations Manager and FMG Management Team.
MAJOR DUTIES:
Prepare financial statements and reports for review
Assist with preparation of the annual business plan, monthly/quarterly/yearly forecasting, and capital approval processes
Ensure compliance with corporate policies and IFRS based GAAP
Capital and fixed asset tracking
General ledger account reconciliations
Coach operations personnel on financial matters related to their area of responsibility
Assist department heads and supervisors in departmental budget control, cost/benefit analysis and financial information and recommendations
QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate will bring the following experience and expertise:
Post-secondary education plus a recognized accounting designation or active participation in the CGA/CMA program or equivalent.
Minimum of five years accounting experience with (woodlands accounting related experience preferred but not required)
Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as able to work with limited supervision.
Advanced personal computer skills (MS Office Suite of products).
