The Wood and Fiber Supply (W&FS) organization is key to ensuring that GP's 80+ mills maintain a constant flow of logs, wood fiber and chips. W&FS sources its wood for the Englehart Facility from a mixture of Crown and private lands. 

Responsibilities:

Procuring in excess of 1 MM tonnes annually the Englehart W&FS Location Manager position will direct and manage wood procurement operations in Englehart, Ontario for our OSB Building Products facility. The position will be responsible for leading a team of procurement personnel and working with mill counterparts to create real long term value.  Other responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the development, ongoing review and execution of mill sourcing strategies based on cost, mill specifications and quality.

·         Develop a culture where safe work practices, safe work conditions and environmental compliance are core values, striving for compliance excellence.

  • Manage all levels of cost which include:
    • Wood & Fiber
    • Transportation
    • Overhead and Administration
    • Capital Employed
  • Meet strategic wood inventory targets.
  • Provide accurate wood costs forecast and volumes as needed short term by mill counterparts.
  • Participate in long term wood cost forecasts for long term strategic planning.
  • Supervise direct reports creating clear Roles, Responsibilities and Expectations (RREs), monitoring performance, providing feedback and ensuring accountability.
  • Dealing with Government Representatives and Industry Trade Associations to represent GP’s best interests. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree. Register Professional Forester  - Preferred
  • At least 5 years’ work experience in wood procurement operations.
  • Experience dealing with forestry related guidelines, policies and government law and regulations.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

·         Advanced degree.

·         Wood and fiber procurement experience.

  • Previous supervisory experience.
