Area Manager – Residential/Commercial 

As our operations continue to expand we are looking for an Area Manager to assist with our Residential/Commercial operations in Western Canada. 

Location:         Great Vancouver Area, British Columbia 

Reporting Relationships 

The Area Manager reports directly to the Regional Vice President, who, in turn, reports to the  Vice President and General Manager of Western Operations.  

Individual District Managers (“DM”) of assigned Residential-Commercial territory offices in a market or major metropolitan area will report directly to the Area Manager.  Within the divisional structure of Davey LTD, the Area Manager will be responsible for the overall performance of the assigned territories, and will work directly with each District Manager to meet corporate objectives established for each operating unit.   

Areas of Responsibility: 

§  Sales and Profit Objectives:  The Area Manager will be responsible for the development of territory sales and profit plans for each territory, as part of the annual budgeting process. Together with the territory DM, they will work to implement marketing and sales programs necessary to achieving the plan for combined and individual services, including proper selling initiatives, pricing, and productivity benchmarks. Throughout the year, monthly financials will be monitored so as to affect timely adjustments as necessary, to operational activity. 

§  Personnel Management:  The Area Manager will work directly with each DM to insure that proper recruiting and hiring activities occur to insure quality personnel exist in the territory.  Personnel development is an ongoing process and involves the entire local management and sales team, with assistance by the corporate recruiting and training departments.  Local recruiting and hiring of quality individuals is the foundation to establishing an effective District team. Individual training, development, and coaching must occur to insure efficient and safe daily operations, and that individuals are being brought along in education and experience to assume increased responsibility and promotion within each office. 

§  Asset Management:  The Area Manager will be responsible to see that the assets of each territory (vehicles, equipment, and other properties) are properly used and maintained to meet daily production objectives and insure longevity of life of the asset. These activities will include ongoing preventive maintenance and monitoring of equipment and asset reports; working with the corporate equipment department personnel and the proper training of local personnel in effective equipment management. 

§  Safety Management:  The Area Manager will work closely with territory management and personnel, with assistance from corporate safety personnel, to insure that proper safety training and monitoring efforts are implemented for all tasks, functions and areas of the local Davey operation.  This will include comprehensive training of new personnel in the assigned jobs; ongoing safety training through refresher programs; Safety Tailgates; risk awareness and avoidance training; and constant team attention to safe practices. 

§  Administrative Coordination & Communications:  The Area Manager will monitor and assist the territory for the necessary business functions provided by corporate support departments, including the ongoing system functions associated with weekly sales and invoicing; personnel and HR admin.; safety and accident reporting; equipment and materials purchasing and payables; client sales activity and records;  equipment maintenance and other operational support programs.  

Candidates Must Possess the Following Skills: 

·         Understanding of business accounting and financial management

·         Working knowledge and experience with equipment utilized in Davey operations

·         Working exposure with electronic media and business software programs including Word, PowerPoint and Excel

·         Strong verbal and written communication skills

·         Firm and confident personality to interact with and direct assigned personnel

·         Be able to work as part of a management team

·         Full range of industry experience

 

·         Because of the responsibility to be a coach and a team builder, the candidate must demonstrate maturity - not necessarily in years but in judgment and in people skills.  Finally, the Area Manager must demonstrate unquestioned integrity and honesty. 

Compensation

Salary: $120,000.00 - $180,000.00/Annually
