Urban Forestry Intern (Forestry, Logging & Mill Operations)

The overall purpose of this position is to assist the Forestry Division in the care of city trees.

Specific job duties include but are not limited to:

inventorying street trees and planting sites, assisting in tree trimming and removal, and watering newly planted trees. 

• Inventory city trees within the city of Elkhart IN
• Operates various forestry equipment including: wood chipper, chain saws, hand saws, pruners, pole pruners and saws, and other forestry related equipment
• Operates weed eaters, blowers, hand tools, and other related equipment.
• Assists in removal and trimming of trees and vegetation in right-of-way.
• Operates dump truck with loads of woodchips, mulch, water, and/or other debris at job site.
• Assist building & grounds maintenance personnel with day to day maintenance.
