Green Diamond Resource Company in Klamath Falls, Oregon is seeking a Timber Cruising Intern to join the Forestry team during the summer of 2015. 

OUR COMPANY

Green Diamond Resource Company is a fifth-generation, family-owned forest products company. With headquarters in Seattle, we own and manage forests in California, Oregon and Washington and produce redwood and Douglas-fir lumber. We manage our lands in an environmentally responsible manner and are third party certified as sustainable and productive working forests.

POSITION PURPOSE

This is a field position, working closely with our Inventory and GIS Forester to gather and analyze data from our plantations.  The analysis will then enable the incumbent to rank each plantation to determine the estimated amount of saw logs the company is able to produce.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • High School Diploma or GED; or the equivalent combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Must be currently enrolled in a forestry related college program.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Effective and professional relationships with co-workers within immediate work group, outside the immediate department, and with key contacts outside the company.
  • Effective and productive communication skills; speaks well, communicates ideas clearly.  Writes well - clearly and concisely.  Is approachable and open to discussion.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This position is located in Klamath Falls, OR.
  • Field work in addition to a normal office environment with moderate noise levels, occasional lifting, regular walking, sitting, bending, twisting, standing and reaching.
  • Ability to perform consistent work on a PC.
  • Must have a good judgment of safety to eliminate risk when working in the field and operating a motor vehicle.  Requires the use of standard safety equipment in regulation with GDRCo.
  • Must maintain punctual and regular attendance and present appropriate professional appearance at all times.
  • This position is a Physical and Mental Requirement Classification 1.

Compensation

Wages will be commensurate with skill level and education.
