In operation for over twenty years, Pinnacle is the longest established pellet producer in Canada. Located in the heart of the lumber industry in central B.C., Pinnacle has access to excellent and abundant sources of raw materials. Pinnacle produces a variety of products including softwood pellet fuel, animal bedding and natural sorbent. Today, the company operates six pellet plants across British Columbia producing millions of tonnes annually. As a rapidly expanding company, we are looking for the right candidate to join our team.

Overview:
The primary focus of the Superintendent of Forest Biomass will be to assess, source and coordinate the delivery of biomass associated with primary harvesting.
The Superintendent of Forest Biomass will be Pinnacle’s key point of contact for both primary sector harvesters and others contractors engaged by Pinnacle in the recovery of forest biomass.
The Superintendent of Forest Biomass will also assess, source and coordinate the activities associated with the sourcing of biomass from salvage stands wherein Pinnacle assumes the role of primary harvester.

Key Task and Responsibilities:
Interact with primary harvesters and be knowledgeable of regional harvest planning.
Travel to planned and current logging operations to assess and monitor residual recovery opportunities and activities.
Effectively use mapping, GPS and volume assessment tools.
Communicate with primary harvesters, contractors, Ministry of Forest staff and receiving plant personnel.
Acquire base information, as needed, from the Ministry of Forests district offices.
Recce standing timber opportunities. Assess the ‘logging chance’.
Develop costing models to estimate the net delivered cost to Pinnacle’s plants
Assist the General Manger of Fiber in locating equipment and resources to extract & deliver the biomass.
Coordinate & implement the operational delivery.
Carry out other assigned duties -- as determined by the General Manager of Fibre.

Qualifications:
Proven ability to work safely and create a culture of safety ownership.
Practical knowledge of harvesting & trucking operations.
Significant experience or aptitude in accessing economic fibre opportunities.
Significant forestry experience in assessing the cost of fibre extraction opportunities. Includes assessment of various logging chances.
Safe driving record and an ability to safely navigate logging truck traffic on forest haul roads.
Have an ‘ambassador’ attitude when interacting with all parties involved in forest operations.
Ability to use forest maps and be proficient with GPS and other measuring tools.
Business acumen required to clearly and concisely develop and communicate a sourcing strategy.

Educational requirements: Registered Professional Forester (RPF) or Registered Forest Technologist (RFT) or eligible to gain RPF or RFT status preferred. Similar skills or education will be considered
