EACOM Timber Corporation is a major Eastern Canadian wood products company formed in 2008. EACOM currently owns seven sawmills (5 in Ontario, 2 in Quebec), a remanufacturing facility (Quebec) and a partnership operation in an engineered I joist plant (Ontario) for a total of 800 employees. Many of these mills have a long, rich history having been part of their communities for over 100 years.

EACOM has a production capacity of approximately 900 million board feet of lumber and holds Crown logging rights of approximately 3.5 million cubic meters annually.

EACOM Timber is seeking a Scaler – Elk Lake.  Reporting to the Supervisor Wood Measurement, you will be responsible for operating the weigh scale, maintenance of the weigh scale systems, scaling of logs in the mill yard and the log sampling program.

Job description:

  • Interface with and train truck drivers to use of the weigh scale system.
  • Ensure accuracy of the daily load receipts.
  • Work closely with operations personnel to ensure the efficient processing of material through the weigh scale system.
  • Follow all Government and Company scaling statutes, rules and regulations.
  • Conduct all sample scaling for the calculation of weight to volume factors.
  • Measure and maintain an accurate yard inventory.
  • Operate and maintain the weigh scale system.
  • Conduct quality sampling of logs received at the sawmill.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot the Weigh IT scale software.
  • Check and maintain all records of wood receipts and inventory.

Requirements:

  • Have a recognized Forest Technician Diploma with a minimum of 5 years experience or equivalent experience in a similar role.
  • Must possess a valid Ontario Scaler’s license with approval to measure Crown resources.
  • You are experienced in the use of Microsoft Office and are comfortable with the use of electronic data collection tools
  • You are available for shift, day, evening work (schedule to be determined)
