The successful candidate will maintain the quality control of incoming logs, control the log yard and related inventory, as well as ensure truck drivers comply with rules and regulation when delivering logs.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate weighing of log trucks upon arrival and departure
  • Comply with rules and regulations, assuring drivers have required documentation
  • Inspect incoming logs, guaranteeing product fulfills quality standards and coordinate with Forest Resources when criteria isn't met
  • Coordinate with off-loaders and truck drivers to maintain accurate inventory
  • Uphold log yard in an organized fashion to optimize inventory capacity
  • Operate assigned equipment as needed to sustain the log yard
  • Prepare daily and weekly reports, ensure all duties are in accordance with safety rules and regulations and perform other duties as necessary

Attributes

  • Knowledge of the forest management and wood fiber utilization
  • Knowledge of government regulations, logging utilization standards, log scaling regulations and grading rules
  • Strong math skills
  • Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to operate small and large equipment as needed
  • Ability to operate a computer and supporting software

Qualifications

  • Scaler’s Licence/Certificate
  • Current, valid driver’s licence
  • Experience in log scaling
