Position Title: Saw Filer
Work Location: Scotia, California
SUMMARY
Inspects and repairs saws and machine centers in a safe and productive manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Benches saws, keeping saws level and straight;
- Inspects machine centers in filing room and on production floor and changes saw blades as needed;
- Tips, profiles and side dresses saws as kerf reaches minimum;
- Melts, pours and cuts babbit guides as they become worn;
- Keeps work areas clean;
- Sharpens chipper knifes.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
One year certificate from college or technical school; or a minimum of three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals and the ability to read and understand instructions and memos and write simple sentences. Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Must also have the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs and apply concepts of basic algebra and plane and solid geometry.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
