The primary purpose of the Engineering Branch is to provide a safe, forest road network which balances industrial, commercial and public use in a cost effective manner reflecting the level of use and available funding while minimizing impacts to the environment.
As Roads Engineer, you provide project management, review, approval and field oriented and professional engineering services and advice to Ministry staff for implementation of the region’s engineering program. You will also oversee road and bridge activities and other engineering issues related to regional harvesting to ensure compliance with regulations and standards. You are an effective communicator and collaborator, able to establish and maintain productive working relationships with industry, consulting and environmental, and provincial and federal professionals to deal with technical issues, engineering standards, regulations, guidebooks and standard operating procedures which may impact forest road or harvesting issues.
This is an independent role for an individual with the ability to organize a busy workload, set priorities, meet deadlines and work under pressure. If you are a skilled engineer seeking a proactive, career building role, we need you on our team.
Note: Registration or eligible for immediate registration as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia is required.
