Project Developer / Analyst - International Services (Management & Executives)

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Forestry. 
  • Advanced degree in a field related to the essential duties and responsibilities of the position. 
  • 5+ years of experience in one or more Latin American countries in providing forestry services to clients which are similar or complementary to the essential duties and responsibilities of the position
  • Fluency in speaking, reading, and writing in English, and in either Portuguese or Spanish (preferred)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • As a project manager, coordinates with other AFM departments, groups, and contractors the provision of specific Latin American client services
  • Assists in the understanding and interpretation of forestry and natural resources concepts and practices in those Latin American countries where LAFM operates
  • Provides core analytical competencies in one or more of the services provided by AFM Latin American forest management (LAFM) services – appraisal, harvest scheduling, growth and yield and GIS/EPS
  • Markets LAFM services to US and international clients
  • Assists LAFM Brazilian partner(s) in marketing, sales, project development, and management
  • Researches and/or recommends changes in AFM policies, procedures related to international operations that will be beneficial to both AFM and LAFM clients
  • Ability to interpret natural resource-related laws, policies, and regulations
  • Performs duties related to the above as needed
  • Coordinates project support with Latin American service provider contractors

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical articles, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Capability of good verbal and listening communication with clients and AFM team members across a spectrum of knowledge and expertise
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from internal and external clients 
  • Ability to conform to prescribed styles, formats, and protocols with respect to the writing of (1) proposals, (2) contracts, and (3) project set-up in the AFM accounting system
  • Working knowledge of Arcview or similar GIS software
  • Ability to learn one or more computer skill sets related to one of the core analytical competencies of this position: appraisal/valuation, harvest scheduling, growth and yield, inventory processing, geographic information processing

Compensation

This is a salaried position with paychecks issued semi-monthly. Salary level will be based on previous experience and ability to fulfill job requirements.
