Position to fill: Production Engineer 

Industry: Forest Products - Sawmills 
Location: Maine 

Our client is a dynamic and progressive Sawmill in Maine, which is benefitting from a growing market. Therefore, they must increase capacity along with efficiencies and are seeking to hire a Production Engineer with experience working on manufacturing lines setups, reorganization, etc. The Production Engineer will bring new ideas and a new vision to strengthen the company's success. 

This is a great opportunity for someone who would like to grow in the forest products industry, where career perspectives have become very promising given demographics. 

Duties include but are not limited to: 
• Develop, evaluate, and improve lumber manufacturing methods 
• Analyze and plan workforce utilization, space requirements, workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency 
• Confer with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods 
• Confer with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluate products according to specifications and quality standards 
• Estimate production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions 
• Confer with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes 
• Apply statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential 
• Assist in coordinating production in accordance with policies, principles and procedures established by the General Manager of Operations 
• Assist with reviewing production costs and product quality; modify production and inventory control programs to maintain and enhance efficiency and profitability of operations 

Position Requirements: 
1- Bachelor in Engineering with one of the following majors: Mechanical, Manufacturing, Methods, Process 
2- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing/industrial settings 
3- Experience working on process improvement, optimization, reorganization projects
