Description

The Procurement Forester manages a region to supply the best value wood to support Rayonier Advanced Materials’ facilities.  Continuity of supply, low costs, and acceptable quality are key goals.   Develops sources of supply and manage them weekly to supply RYAM’s wood needs.  These will include not only gatewood sources, but also committed sources within agreed targets. This could also include the cruising, evaluation, purchase, and harvesting of tracts of standing timber (TPAs.) Understands the RYAM mill processes and manage the quality of the wood delivered to those facilities.  Operates within Southeast Wood Procurement’s SFI guidelines and RYAM’s Code of Corporate Conduct.

Required Qualifications

·         Bachelor’s degree in Forestry or related field.

·         At least two years of experience in wood procurement or a forestry-related field.

·         Knowledge of forest management, wood procurement, wood quality, market conditions for stumpage, pulp mill  requirements and specifications, landowner concerns, competitive environment, wood price structures, logging costs and wood supplier issues. 

·         Knowledge of SFI and state BMP guidelines. 

·         Understanding of finance and accounting concepts. 

·         Excellent negotiating and interpersonal skills.
