Apollo Forest Products has been in operation in Fort St. James since 1969 and today the operation is a major employer in the community, deriving significant benefit from a capable and committed workforce.  With its strong and secure fibre basket, the Apollo mill produces 150 million board feet of premium quality stud lumber annually.  Apollo has a partnership agreement with the Nak’azdli First Nation in the Tl’oh operation with an annual production capacity of 24 million board feet of high-quality finger-joint stud lumber. Fort St. James is located approximately 160 km north-west of Prince George.

Lakeland Mills Ltd. has been a division of the Sinclar Group since 1973, with three generations of owners and employees proud to call themselves part of the Lakeland family.  The Lakeland mill has developed a global reputation for producing premium quality stud lumber. A tragic accident in 2012 which destroyed the Lakeland mill began a time of sorrow and challenge for the Company, its employees and their families.  The mill is in the process of rebuilding and the Company expects to be operational in the fall of 2014.  Located in Prince George which is the geographic centre of British Columbia, the “new Lakeland” mill will have a capacity of 200 million board feet.

Reporting to the General Manager, Lumber Manufacturing, the Plant Managers at each of the two sawmills provide strong and effective leadership, direction and support to their teams to achieve safety, operational, quality and financial objectives. As key members of Sinclar’s leadership group, the Plant Managers are responsible for developing and implementing strategies that ensure safe and efficient production while optimizing the return on investment over a long-term horizon.  Additionally, the incumbents are Sinclar’s senior representatives in their respective communities, and as such play significant roles in representing the Company to the community through the support of community initiatives and by providing a bridge between local and regional government representatives, First Nations, businesses, residents and the Sinclar Group.

Besides a relevant educational background, the successful candidates will bring a progressive history of leadership in a heavy manufacturing environment, preferably with experience leading operations and/or maintenance in a sawmill.  He or she will possess strong mechanical and technical abilities; the ability to create, articulate and garner broad support for a vision; exceptional communication abilities; a track record of successful process improvements and; above all, outstanding leadership skills.
