They are looking for an experienced Planer Supervisor for their location in Northern Alberta. This organization consistently promotes from within and there is the opportunity to move into a Finishing Superintendent position.

Position Responsibilities and Scope



The overall objective for this position is achieving production, safety and quality targets. The Planer Supervisor will be responsible for directly managing a team of 25 employees, as well as coordinating the duties within the dry kiln and planer. Safety is of utmost importance to this organization and the supervisor will be responsible for ensuring employees adhere to safe work practices. The Planer Supervisor will also be involved in developing departmental budgets, performance management, recruitment, scheduling and training. 

Required Qualifications



Essential Skills
Candidates applying to this position must meet the following requirements:
• Minimum 3 years of planer or finishing department experience within a sawmill
• Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience
• Understanding of the requirements of domestic and export markets
• Thorough understanding of the planer facility
• Strong communication skills
• Lumber grading ticket would be a major asset
