Planer Supervisor (Forestry, Logging & Mill Operations)

GENERAL:

Reporting to the Finishing Superintendent, the Planer Supervisor is responsible for achieving or exceeding safety, quality, cost and production targets while working within approved budgets. The Supervisor is responsible for the safety, organization, training and leadership of all employees on the crew while ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety regulations and company policies.

MAJOR DUTIES:

• Facilitate and promote a safe and positive work environment for all employees under his/her direction.
• Ensure that the established safety, quality, cost, production and employee engagement performance objectives are met or exceeded on a consistent basis.
• Proactively identify opportunities to reduce costs and maximize the safe production of lumber by optimizing the manufacturing process.
• Provide leadership, guidance and promote open communication for all employees on shift
• Lead a culture of continuous improvement by implementing and sustaining Canfor Operating System principles.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

The successful candidate will bring the following experience and expertise:

• Safe work habits and working knowledge of WorkSafe BC Regulations
• Grade 12 or equivalent
• Supervisory experience in the forest industry
• Excellent interpersonal, analytical and problem solving skills
• Strong computer skills
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license
• A valid grading ticket is an asset
• Optimization experience is an asset
