Reporting to the Planer Sawmill Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising the graveyard team shift.  This will be accomplished while ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.  The Planer Supervisor is responsible for achieving the planned quality, recovery and production targets while working within approved budgets.

  • Experience:
    • Previous maintenance experience is considered an asset
  • Education:
    • High school diploma or equivalency
    • Valid AFPA Lumber Grading Ticket
  • Skills and Abilities:
    • Able to lead in safety, and engage people in process management
    • Great analytical, problem solving, interpersonal, and team building skills
    • Good understanding of optimization equipment and processes
  • Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Facilitate and promote a safe and positive working environment for all employees.
    • Ensure that the established safety, quality, production, environment and cost performance objectives are met or exceeded on a consistent basis.
    • Working closely with the Maintenance Supervisor, coordinate production with the maintenance and cleanup schedules to ensure safe and efficient production operation.
    • Proactively identify opportunities to reduce costs and maximize the safe production of lumber by optimizing the manufacturing process.
    • Provide leadership, guidance and promote open communication for all employees on your shift.
    • Coach, train and support team members to attain optimum results.
