Our client has an exciting position available for an Operations Specialist located in beautiful Powell River, BC. As a critical member of the Utilities Operations group, this role provides expertise and leadership to achieve operating objectives. We are looking for someone with an engineering or technical background with a track record of initiating change and challenging the status quo.

  Salary is dependent on experience. Bonus/profit sharing opportunities

• Experience:

  You will have a proven track record of initiating change, challenging the status quo, and being able to act as a change agent. Preference will be given to applicants with an engineering or technical background. Operations experience in a manufacturing environment would be a definite asset. Preference will be given to those with heavy industry experience; mining, power generation, pulp and paper mill, refineries, oil & gas, chemical process industry, utilities, incinerators.

• Education:

  • 1st or 2nd power engineering certificate is required.

• Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong technical and trouble shooting skills.
  • Excellent communication skills

• Duties and Responsibilities:

  You will contribute your experience and expertise to the areas of;
  • Ensuring that operators have knowledge, experience and procedures to make product safely and efficiently to specification;
  • Providing timely communication of equipment maintenance requirements;
  • Maintaining lock out and confined space procedures;
  • Maintaining operator technical training materials;
  • Ensuring that daily operating plans are communicated and executed;
  • Directing the activities of crew on maintenance down days;
  • Providing troubleshooting expertise.
  • Optimizing manufacturing processes and recommend equipment and process improvements to achieve manufacturing objectives.
