We operate in British Columbia, Alberta, and Ontario. We are currently seeking an exceptional individual for the following vacancy in our Woodlands Department:

OPERATIONS / SCALE FORESTER – GRANDE PRAIRIE, AB

Reporting to the Operations Superintendent, the Operations/Scale Forester will be engaged in a diverse and dynamic role within the Alberta Woodlands team, focusing on Ainsworth’s commitment to safety, health and the environment.

The Operations/Scale Forester will work closely with the Operations Superintendent in the delivery of the Alberta Woodlands scaling/wood purchase program.  The successful candidate will:

  • Assist with the ongoing development and operation of the Alberta Woodlands Log Information Management System
  • Administer the operation of the weigh scales
  • Be responsible for weigh records and contract payments
  • Assist with  log haul administration
  • Assist with miscellaneous log purchases
  • Assist with reporting to provincial government
  • Assist in the administration of log scaling contracts
  • Assist in the measurement of log yard inventories
  • Complete various land use related tasks
  • Assist with field activities required for the completion of Forest Harvest Plans

The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, have excellent interpersonal skills, have the ability to work in a team environment with people of different backgrounds, have strong analytical and organizational skills, and possess a high energy and commitment level.  Preference will be given to individuals who are eligible or are currently members of CAPF or CAPFT with at least 2 years of related forestry experience. Candidates with other post secondary education credentials and employment experience in related fields may be considered. A current Class 5 driver’s license is required.  Familiarity with LIMS, Cengea, ESRI GIS products, MS Office applications and the Alberta Log Scaling system would be considered an asset.
