Weyerhaeuser of Edson is searching for an Operations Manager who is a talented, business savvy individual with manufacturing experience and is looking for an opportunity to join a great company and be a strong contributor to the Weyerhaeuser OSB business and Edson team. This position will report to the Unit Manager and is a member of the Edson OSB Lead Team. With successful results in this role, the ideal candidate will have the skills and potential to be a leading candidate for the unit manager role in the future.
Edson is a town of 8,600 and has a full range of cultural and recreational activities, including being home to Canada's largest slo-pitch tournament. It is strategically located on Highway 16, the Trans Canada Yellowhead Route, and sits approximately 2 hour’s drive west of Edmonton, home of the world famous West Edmonton mall, among many other world class city amenities, and is a 2 hour’s drive east of beautiful Jasper National Park.

Key Functions
· Lead the Edson OSB production team to ensure excellence in achieving quality and production goals, with safety of associates being the highest priority
· Role model all standards/processes and on-the-job behavior by living our core principles of integrity, fairness, & creating a positive inclusive work environment
· Provide leadership for the ongoing development of the organization, as well as the development of individual talent and succession planning
· Manage performance of direct reports by setting goals & ensuring accountability of site and business expectations
· Optimize area of responsibility to include production scheduling, value extraction of product mix and process reliability.
· Promote & make recommendations for continuous improvement & innovation
· Contribute toward strategic planning process, providing input, direction and solutions to issues.
· Back up for the Unit Manager as needed.
REQUIRED
· Minimum of 5 years experience leading front line teams in a manufacturing environment with demonstrated ability in safely delivering operational excellence
· Demonstrated capability in performance management including coaching and developing others
· Thorough understanding and demonstration of continuous improvement / systematic trouble shooting skills acquired through formal training (i.e. Lean, 6 sigma, TQM)
· Four year Degree in relevant field of study OR two year degree plus relevant operations leadership experience
· Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal and electronic communication skills
· Demonstrated computer skills and proficiency in MS Office and other windows based programs
· Good understanding of financial principles, experience in the development and management of budgets
DESIRED
· Successful implementation of small and large capital projects
· Experience in wood products manufacturing (Engineered Lumber Products, OSB or Lumber)
· Bachelor's degree in relevant field or Technical school diplomas
· Experience with Maximo and/or SAP
