Operations Manager – Mackenzie Division (Management & Executives)

We are looking for an Operations Manager with an impressive track record to bring our operation to the next level.

Reporting to the General Manager – Mackenzie Division, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of logs that meets or exceeds customer expectations. This role involves developing a seasonal log flow schedule and ensuring the appropriate resources are in place to deliver this plan.
 
Responsibilities will include the following:

Contract Logging

  • Provide leadership by planning, directing and controlling logging activities to ensure efficient resource utilization at the Mackenzie division while leading, inspiring and motivating staff to effectively achieve overall goals, focusing on continuous improvement initiatives
  • Promote a positive safety and environmental culture

Asset Management & Administration

  • Maximize equipment efficiency and reliability to ensure the optimum use of resources
  • Manage the responsible use and care of company vehicles and equipment to minimize down-time and present a professional, safe image for the KDL Group

Leadership/Management

  • Provide direction and support to logging supervisors, ensuring that best practices are followed while mentoring, coaching, and developing staff
  • Manage and directs the work methods, personnel, production, scheduling, logistics, safety, operations, fleet, and materials

Qualifications:

  • We are looking for a dynamic manager with 10 years experience in the resource industry with 5+ years’ experience in a supervisory or management role
  • Possess a good understand of the forestry business and logging practices
  • Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong team builder that exhibits confidence in self and others; inspires and motivates others to perform
  • Proven track record with successful background in negotiations, delivering results and maintaining operational efficiencies
  • Demonstrated success in shaping organizational culture and safe work practices
  • Computer literate with strong MS Office abilities (Excel in particular)
