Bear Lake Logging Co. Ltd and Nanaimo Lakes Logging Ltd are established logging and road building companies working in various BC coastal locations.

Position Overview:

Reporting directly to the company President you will be responsible for the maintenance and continued improvement of our Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) programs, including our annual BC Forest Safety Council (BCFSC) Safe Certification audits. In addition, you will provide assistance and support to supervisors, road foreman and management in a number of areas such as coordinating crew travel arrangements, worker scheduling, employee recruitment, training, record keeping and various other duties related to supporting staff and employees at an operations level.

•  Ability to maintain effective relationships with management and employees 
•  Strong interpersonal skills; excellent presentation, group facilitation, and communication skills 
•  Excellent organizational and time management skills with ability to manage timelines, and milestones with minimal supervision 
•  Effective communication skills, presentation skills, questioning skills and technique 
•  Ability to think creatively and implement solutions exercising flexibility and sound judgment 
•  Strong Computer skills in Microsoft Word Excel and Outlook programs along with Adobe Acrobat

Qualifications:

•  Direct OH&S experience, preferably in the Forest Industry
•  Post-Secondary degree or diploma in OH&S or Forestry or equivalent combination of education and experience
•  Knowledgeable in both Federal and Provincial OH&S legislation and industry applicable regulations and codes
•  Safety and/or OH&S related certifications from the BC Forest Safety Council an asset - SAFE companies, Forest Supervisor, Incident Investigation, and/or Auditor training
