 Job Description

Title: Millwright (Unionized position)

Reports to: Foreperson

Location: The job is located at 3838 Port Mellon Highway Port Mellon, BC, V0N 2S0

Duration: Permanent and full time

Responsibilities and Tasks

·         Read blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures

·         Rebuild and/or repair production machinery and systems on site

·         Assemble machinery and equipment prior to installation using hand and power tools and welding equipment

·         Install, align, dismantle and move stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment, such as pumps, fans, tanks, conveyors, furnaces and generators according to layout plans using hand and power tools

·         Install, troubleshoot and maintain power transmission, vacuum, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and programmable logic controls

·         Operate hoisting and lifting devices such as cranes, jacks and tractors to position machinery and parts during the installation, set-up and repair of machinery

·         Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions, reporting of all suspect facility and operational issues

·         Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts

·         Operate machine tools such as lathes and grinders to fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance or set-up of machinery

·         Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on machinery

·         Construct foundations for machinery or direct other workers to construct foundations

·         Provide support to the manufacturing operations, positively interacting with customers for timely resolution of production/equipment concerns

·         Actively participate in the safety program of Iyinisiw

·         Other tasks related to industrial equipment as may be required during the course of business

Required Qualifications

·         Completion of high school or technical school training as a millwright

·         5 years of experience as a millwright

·         Experience in moving, assembling, disassembling, troubleshooting, and repairing various types of machinery and equipment in heavy industrial setting is required; a minimum of 3 years heavy industry experience is preferred

·         Ability to read and interpret documents such as machine blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

·         Must be able to read, write and communicate in English.

·         Experiences in paper & pulp industry or heavy industry is an asset.

·         Ability to write routine reports and correspondence

·         Safety tickets are considered an asset

·         Interprovincial Red Seal is an asset

·         Valid driver’s license is an asset 

Compensation

Compensation: $29.60 to $37.00 per hour based on qualification and certification.
