Mechanical Engineer (Engineering)

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design of complicated industrial process piping and mechanical systems.
  • Oversee a group of mechanical engineers, EITs, and piping designers.
  • As the mechanical lead on large projects, you will complete projects independently, supervising and coordinating the activity of other engineers and project team members.
  • Continually foster and grow strong relationships with our clients.
  • Using your considerable organizational, communication and people skills, you will lead and work with cross-discipline teams to ensure projects are completed within allotted schedules and budgets and to high quality standards.
  • Mentorship of new and junior employees is also a key part of this role and our organization.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 12 years industrial experience with mechanical systems and process piping, with experience on major capital projects, preferably in a consulting environment
  • Experience with conceptual design, front-end and detailed engineering of process plants including the development of PFDs, P&IDs, controls, logic, safety systems, etc
  • Strong working knowledge of pump and piping system design, pipe stress analysis (Caesar II), heat transfer, HVAC systems, API 650/620 tank design, ASME pressure vessels design, general equipment specifications, construction scope of work documents, and technical bid evaluations is required
  • Experience with the design of Pulp & Paper, Oil & Gas, and/or Chemical facilities would be an asset
  • Excellent communication skills (interpersonal and written) and proven ability to collaborate with team members in a multi-disciplined environment
  • Technical competence and strong attention to detail
  • Must be registered as a Professional Engineer (PEng.) in the province of British Columbia
