Management Forester (Forestry, Logging & Mill Operations)

Job Description:

The Management Forester will assist in planning and implementation of land management activities and services on behalf of an institutional investment client(s) and private landowners.

Essential Functions:

  • Analysis and reporting
  • Silvicultural and harvest scheduling and budgeting
  • Field data collection
  • Assist in preparation of timber sales
  • Harvest monitoring and quality control
  • Monitor BMP and sustainability program compliance
  • Timber security procedures
  • Contractor supervision
  • Other duties as assigned

This is a field based position.  Applicants must be self-motivated and comfortable working alone or in a group setting in diverse forest types and weather conditions.  Applicant must possess the ability and desire to meet strict deadlines with excellent attention to detail and commitment to error-free work.  Periodic overnight travel is required.

Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Forest Management or related field
  • 3 - 5 years experience required
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, ArcView
  • Competency in use of forestry field equipment including compass, clinometer and field GPS technology, and GIS mapping

Minimum experience: 3-5 years

Minimum Education: BA/BS/Undergraduate
