Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Maintenance Superintendent is a Senior Manager who is responsible for the installation, repair and maintenance of all operational equipment (machinery, rolling stock, air compressors, dry kilns, electrical and gas) and the upkeep of buildings, sprinkler system, and water lines.

Our client is an independent, community minded sawmill based in Northwestern British Columbia (BC). The mill has approximately 90 personnel and an annual production capacity of 90 million board feet based on one shift. Investments in mill infrastructure are underway and long-term plans for the mill include a significant modernization to improve recovery, efficiency and production.

Primary responsibilities include:

·         Responsible for ensuring plant equipment is maintained to high standards at all times;

·         Providing leadership, supervision and training  to the maintenance team;

·         Ensure compliance of all safety procedures and practices of all personnel under your supervision ;

·         Recruit maintenance employees, with the assistance of HR;

·         Managing and reporting of all maintenance related costs ;

·         Prioritizing workflow and logistics; 

·         Communication with staff, suppliers and other service providers.

Position Specifications

Education and Experience

·         5-10 years in a Maintenance Manager role  with experience in a sawmill or equivalent setting required;

·         Completion of a recognized relevant trades certification is required;

·         Experience with other relevant trades is highly beneficial;

·         Familiar with the manufacturing and electrical components of a sawmill facility.

Skills, Knowledge and Required Competencies

·         Excellent communication (English), work prioritization and time management skills are mandatory;

·         Team player able to direct and manage a team of skilled trades is needed;

·         Knowledge of traditional two line sawmill with basic PLC optimization technology is highly beneficial;

·          Knowledge and application of  health and safety requirements is a must;

·         Troubleshooting ability and computer literacy also required.

Schedule: Full-time rotational shifting

Compensation

Salary: $90-105,000 annually plus very good benefits package.

Other Benefits: Relocation allowance and temporary living allowance will be considered.
