Interfor is currently recruiting for a Log Scaling Supervisor at our Adams Lake Woodlands division based in Chase, British Columbia.  The successful candidate will be responsible for the log scaling program, log scaler supervision, log yard and dumping facilities, as well as assisting with logging contractor management. This position will also interact with the Interior Kootenay operations. 

Position Details:

Major Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the log scaling management.
  • Supervise hourly scaling and log dump team.
  • Provide leadership, supervision and training of scaling and operations staff.
  • Ensure consistency and provide coaching to Interfor scaling operations within the Interior operations.
  • Provide technical expertise and interact with government agencies.
  • Provide strong safety leadership for staff and contractors.
  • Provide support to Controllers, Operations Management, Quality Control, Engineering, and Log Operations staff.
  • Manage log quality program and inventory management.
  • Manage all day to day tasks associated with the Log Production/Scale Administration function, including receiving data from scale sites, verifying accuracy and completeness of information, inputting scale into the system and distributing reports.
  • Balance and verify data with follow up on discrepancies/errors.
  • Compile and record production volumes.
  • Report log scale information internally and to the Ministry of Forests.
  • Produce production reports and manage records.
  • Correspond with logging contractors, scalers and Ministry of Forests.
  • Play a key role in systems maintenance, support and enhancements of the production and scales system

  • Competency with log production software systems and demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook)
Required Experience 
  • BC log scaling license is mandatory
  • Minimum 5 years of experience within the forestry industry.
  • Working knowledge of the British Columbia Harvest Billing System
  • Demonstrated career progression, with supervisory experience
  • Demonstrated leadership in safety
